The iAccelerator is a youth programme launched by UNFPA in partnership with Imbuto foundation, with the support from UKaid.

It encourages young people to think critically and creatively about issues related to sexual and reproductive health and seeks to generate innovative, youth-led solutions to these issues.

It is through a consultative process, that the challenge was identified: Access to quality sexual and reproductive information and services for young people.

The competition was launched on 2 December 2016 and was followed with a series of boot camps, outreach events and a media campaign throughout the country to encourage the youth to apply and benefit from this opportunity.

Following a successful campaign, the competition closed on 23 January 2017. A panel of judges and experts reviewed over 231 applications to shortlist a group of 10 innovators.

On Friday the 17th Feb 2017, the Top 10 innovators presented their ideas at the pitch contest, for a chance to be picked among the best four.
After pitching entrepreneurial ideas that are potentially able to help deal with sexual reproductive health among the youth, the top 4 young innovators walked away with grand prizes of 10,000 USD each.

The pitching contest was actually not the end but the start of an intensive training and mentor ship program for the winners where they will be supported to further develop their ideas.

The end of the program will be a Demo Day, scheduled in May, where the winners will present their products/prototypes to potential investors.
