Midwives are the backbone of maternal health systems – delivering babies and much more.
Every day in every part of the world, midwives save the lives of women and babies and promote the health and well-being of entire communities.
They stand by women when they are most vulnerable. They fight daily to defend a woman’s human right to go through pregnancy and childbirth safely.
On 5th May 2022, under the theme, “100 Years of Progress the”, The Rwanda Association of Midwives (RAM)  joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife.
UNFPA expresses its deepest respect and appreciation for the extraordinary and life-saving work that midwives do. We celebrate your many achievements and honor your extraordinary contribution to humanity.
